We are not Equine Instructors, just Icelandic Horse Lovers. Icelandic Horse Club Members can visit to enjoy a unique exclusive equine experience in a natural safe environment that leaves you happy to be a horse owner.

safety first. . .

When visiting Granite Peaks Ranch, please consider that our ranch pastures are at 7800’, San Juan Mountains reach well above that which should be taken seriously.  Make sure to bring helmets, sun protection (mineral types preferred for our rivers), an all weather light jacket, and be aware of your surroundings as you go on trails. Granite Peaks Ranch is surrounded by wilderness, temperatures vary throughout the day and you may come across moose, deer, elk, coyote, and if you are lucky bear.

We raise Yaks and they graze freely on our property, use this as an opportunity to get your horse familiar with interacting in an open environment. The yaks are very calm and will not come up to you, please do not come up too close to them either or you might be sorry you did.  We welcome you to a safe place to enjoy Icelandic horses, please be aware of your actions and surroundings to avoid accidents.
