Granite Peaks Ranch started off the New Year with 36” of snow and temperatures below zero for a few days. The animals have been enjoying the warmer December winter and stayed out late in pasture with the yaks. They all voluntarily came back to the barn before the storm hit so we knew it was going to be a big one.
Now the winter fun begins! Yaks gathering in the morning to be fed and scratched, horses wanting top priority special treatment before the yaks or else… Lucky for them all, we dried boxes of apples as treats last Fall so everyone gets special goodies at the Ranch, even the birds. I’m looking forward to our Cart training in June so that next winter I can entertain the idea of Haukur, sleigh bells and a sleigh ride with friends!
